In 2009, the Japanese manufacturer launched the Camry hybrid on the North American market. With a 2.5L gasoline engine assisted by an electric motor, it really was the Toyota Camry and not the Prius that launched the hybrid revolution!
Production of the Honda Accord Hybrid began in 2013. This first hybrid version of the Honda vehicle housed a 2.0L i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine and a 40-watt electric motor on the rear axle. This first Accord Hybrid generated 196 hp while the first Camry made do with... 109 hp!
The Accord Hybrid was the most powerful car in the line-up right out of the box!
The exterior of both hybrids
The 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid shines! Its headlights, turn indicators, taillights, brake lights and standard fog lights are all LED. The entry-range hybrid version also comes standard with a power moonroof, while the Touring adds standard 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels and rain-sensing wipers.
Only the top versions of the 2021 Toyota Camry come with LED headlights and taillights. Aside from its large front air vents and small integrated spoiler, the hybrid Camry's somewhat flashy look has none of the elegance of the 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid.

Interior
The quiet interior of the 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid is outfitted with carefully assembled, high-quality materials. Practical, the 2021 Accord Hybrid's trunk opens up to an expansive 473 litres (16.7 cu. ft) of cargo volume. The driver's seat in each Accord has 12-way power adjustment and 4-way power lumbar support. Also included in each Accord Hybrid is a 452-watt Premium audio system with 10 speakers including a subwoofer.
Unfortunately, the 2021 Camry Hybrid's driver has to make do with a seat with only 8-way power adjustments, lacking lumbar support. The standard audio system in the Camry Hybrid is pretty primitive with only 6 speakers. And when it comes time to stow the luggage, it only has 428 litres (15.1 cu. ft).

2021 Accord Hybrid or 2021 Camry Hybrid: Powertrains
The 2021 Toyota Camry Hybrid is equipped with a 2.5L 4-cylinder combustion engine coupled with a hybrid synergy system and an E-CVT transmission. The combination generates 208 net hp.
Honda engines are known for their responsiveness. The Accord Hybrid is powered by a 2.0L, i-VTEC, DOHC, 4-cylinder Atkinson Cycle engine coupled with 2 electric motors and an E-CVT transmission that manages interactions between the combustion engine and the two electric motors. This powertrain delivers 212 hp and 232 lb-ft of electric torque!
In addition, the Accord's hybrid system includes steering wheel-mounted deceleration paddles that control the rate of deceleration and thus create regenerative braking.
The 2021 Honda Accord also features an available adaptive damper system that enhance driving enjoyment and occupant comfort. In Sport mode, the system tunes the suspension to help with precision when cornering. The Normal mode helps provide softer ride damping for a smoother drive.

Safety
The 2021 Toyota Camry Hybrid gets the traditional and somewhat outdated Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 suite of technologies (pre-collision system with pedestrian and bicycle detection, lane departure alert, automatic high beams, lane tracing assist).
Every Honda hybrid sedan comes standard with the Honda Sensing Technologies, which includes the same features as the TSS 2.5 suite but adds Traffic Sign Recognition.
The Accord Hybrid's safety technologies also include Blind Spot Information System, Hill Start Assist, Tire Pressure Monitoring and Driver Attention Monitoring. Finally, the 2021 Accord Hybrid's energy-absorbing hood and front fenders as well as its deformable wiper pivots help ensure pedestrian safety.
